Today Symphonie Cinétique – The Poetry of Motion received two awards from The Art Directors Club for lighting and music.
In a joint project, media artist Joachim Sauter and Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds try to find the synergy between kinetic movement and sound. It received its premiere at the Berlin art gallery MADE in July 2013 and ran until September 2013.
This film presents the journey, that culminated with the creation and performance of this common project. The dialogue and exchange between these two craftsmen, each coming from a distinctly different discipline, resulted in a majestic clash of light, motion and sound. The team employed various technologies in pieces that often explore soft, fluid movement driven by hardware.
Please dive in, let go and enjoy this wonderful moment – Joachim Sauter’s graceful kinetic pieces breathing and moving in harmony with the music composed by Ólafur Arnalds.
